Aid to Rebels CC4

Jill Dougherty and Michael Pearson wrote the article, "Western powers set to increase aid for Syrian rebels." They wrote this article to inform the people of what America is going to do to help the Syrian rebels.

" The United States promised Thursday to send food and medical supplies." We are going to send these supplies but no weapons. Under these circumstances we will be helping but not in such a dramatic way as to donate weapons and ammunition to these rebel forces in Syria.

"The United States' decision to take further steps now is the result of the continued brutality of a superior armed force propped up by foreign fighters from Iran and Hezbollah, all of which threatens to destroy Syria." We are just trying to take these steps to help Syrian Rebels where they need help. But we along with some of the other countries are pledging to help with this effort.

I completely agree with these steps that the U.S. and other countries have vowed to take on this action. We should be willing to help with other countries gaining their democracy.

South Korea Woman President CC3

Peter Shadbolt wrote"South Korea's president-elect faces tough challenges" to inform the reader. He wanted to inform us that Korea's new President is a woman. And that she cares about the people that she was elected by.

"South Korea's first female president Park Geun Hye will take office on Monday." I think that Park Guen Hye Twill make a fine President for Sout Korea. She is one of the first elected woman officials in such a high ranking enviorment.

"I have no family to take care of and no children to pass wealth to. You, the people, are my family and your happiness is the reason that I stay in politics." She guinuinly cares about her people, and her country. She unlike other elected officials are in the politics for a reason.

I think that having a woman for President could be a good think for such a harsh country as South Korea. Maybe this will help stop the evil raids that they have done in the past.

Book Review 2

Gene Luen Yang’s book American Born Chinese entertained me with the comedy stuffing is this piece of literature.

The theme in this book is that you should always be happy with who you are and not with what you want to be. First is the Monkey King wanted to be something different, but that ended up with him underneath a huge pile of rocks. Then, the Monkey King’s son wanted to be something different and he became a human, but when he came to Earth he was made fun of at school. And last Kin-chee tried to be something different when he came to visit his cousin Danny in America, but he proceeded to be made fun of but in the end he ended up being the Monkey King.

The setting of this book is in ancient times in the beginning in China. Then the book makes a major jump to modern times in America. But once the setting makes it to America, the setting takes place at Danny’s school.

I can relate to this book because I have family that I am embarrassed, of like Danny is of Kin-Chee. Second I have been the kid at school who has made fun of like the Monkey King’s son. And last I can relate because I have often wanted to be a different person some times during my life.

I would give this book a 4 on the recommendation scale. I was entertained by this book, but it was not the best book I have ever read. `

$200 To Quit Facebook CC2

                                               $200 To Quit Facebook CC2
The author, Doug Gross, wrote this article about this Boston, Mass. family to entertain the readers. His main idea for this article was to show that with the right initiative you can quit anything.

"A Boston father is paying his 14-year-old daughter $200 to quit using the social site." So you can get anybody to stop doing these actions. So for $200 dollars you can convince your loved ones to stop these ridiculous actions.

"In return, he'll give her $50 in April and the remaining $150 in June." But his daughter has to break her facebook addiction for five months. Which is well into most teenagers summer vacation. This is very funny to me.

I could easily stop using facebook for five months for the reward of $200. I am hardly on my facebook account, but I believe I could stop my so called "addiction". But I know several people who could not stop there facebook addiction.

Gun Control CC1

The author wrote this article to inform the upset Americans about the new ideas on gun control. The authors main idea is that both sides need to reach a common ground on the gun proposal background checks."Both sides can find common ground on tougher background checks." As stated by Neera Tanden to "Fox News Sunday".

"The proposals include requiring universal background checks, banning military-grade assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips and updating data systems to track gun sales and enforce existing laws." I completely agree with these new proposals, I think that there should be stricter  background checks, and banning AR platform rifles.

Larry Pratt "argued that stolen guns were used in the fatal shootings last month at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in which 20 first-graders and six adults were killed." How do we as the heartbroken Americans fix this problem. I honestly do not have the answer for that. But somebody else might.

This text is very related to our world right now. America is in the process of trying to fix the messups that unstable members of our society have made. Other countries have problems with mass shootings also, like in Iraq we have heard about all the shootings that they have had, it is not just in America.
